Artist Trading Cards (*・U・)ノ☆
ATCs are playing card-sized works of art created with the purpose of being traded between creators! The concept originated in 1997, when artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann exhibited over 1200 of his own creations in a Zurich gallery, before inviting attendees to trade art with him on the final day of the exhibit. Since then, ATCs have been created and traded worldwide, always - importantly - with no money changing hands in the process. Artist Trading Cards allow for the creation of pocket-sized art for the sake of art, outside of what is appropriate, necessary, or profitable. They can be any medium - mine are all repurposed, scrapbooked Pokémon cards!
Every year I make as many ATCs as possible to gift to my students on graduation day (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) Below are a few of my favourite creations!
